Czechoslovakia was dissolved with effect on 1st January 1993. According to that, the country was peacefully split into two independent countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2004, these two nation-states joined the European Union. On 13th November 1992, the Federal Assembly passed the Constitution Act 541, which settled the division of property between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. According to the Constitution Act 542, which passed on 25th November 1992, they agreed to the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
