Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone. In 1871, Bell started working on the harmonic telegraph. That was a device to allow multiple messages to be transmitted over a wire at the same time. Also, he tried with findings a way to transmit the human voice over wires. Then, he obtained a patent for his telephone in 1876. After a few days, he made the first telephone call to his partner Mr. Thomas Watson.
Initially, telephone lines were established separately, and these lines were connected with pairs of telephones. In 1877, the first telephone line was set in Boston. Alexander Graham Bell launched the Bell Telephone Company in 1877. He made the first transcontinental phone call to Mr.Watson from New York to San Francisco in 1915.
