Kenya is officially called the Republic of Kenya. It is a country in East Africa and it has a coastline on the Indian Ocean. Nairobi is the Capital of Kenya.

Also, in 1961, Kenya African Democratic Union (KADU) was formed to advocate a quasi-federal government. In May 1963, the first full franchise General Election was held in Kenya and Kenya African National Union (KANU) won the election. Kenya attained internal self-government in June 1963. On December 12th, 1963 Kenya obtained independence through a complex Majimbo constitution which conceded much autonomy. That was called the Dominion of Kenya. The Dominion of Kenya was a short-lived sovereign state and the head of state was Queen Elizabeth II. The Duration of the Dominion of Kenya was between December 12th, 1963, and December 12th, 1964. It was a forerunner to the Republic of Kenya. The constitutional monarch roles were mostly delegated to Malcolm John Macdonald. He was the Governor-General of Kenya. Jomo Kenyatta was activated as the Prime Minister.
Then, Kenya became a republic on 12th December 1964 and they were remaining within the Commonwealth by the common consent of all Commonwealth Governments. After the abolition of the monarchy, Jomo Kenyatta was inaugurated as the first President of the Republic of Kenya. Jomo Kenyatta was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician. He played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. He gave his leadership to the Kenya African National Union (KANU) from 1961 until his death.
