Date : 22nd April
Every year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect our planet from things such as pollution and deforestation. Our planet is a wonderful place. But many people do harmful things to the planet and it needs our help to protect from these harmful things. That is the reason to celebrate Earth Day.
Considering the history of Earth Day, the first Earth Day was celebrated in the year 1970. That was celebrated in a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues, which was organized by a United States senator from Wisconsin. At the end of the year, the government of the United States created the Environmental Protection Agency. By 1990, more than 140 countries around the world celebrated Earth Day.
We can do some activities to protect our planet such as planting trees, conserving water, using long-lasting light bulbs and etc. These things help to make our planet a happier and healthier place to live.
